Legal Profession
The best sources of information on lawyers are the following websites:
- Law Society (direct link to Becoming a Solicitor)
- Bar Council (direct link to Qualifying as a Barrister)
- Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX)
The LNAT (National Admissions Test for Law) needs to be completed for entry into certain universities.
Complaints against solicitors are dealt with by the Legal Complaints Service and they are regulated by the Solicitors' Regulation Authority.
Complaints against barristers are dealt with by the Bar Standards Board, who also regulate the profession.
If a client is unhappy with the way a complaint has been dealt with, then a case may be sent to the Legal Services Ombudsman. You may also be interested in the Legal Services Complaints Commissioner.
